Corporate Massage as a gross salary scheme

  • Pre-tax payment: The employee pays for the massage out of their income before taxes are withheld—resulting in tax savings.
  • No additional costs for the employer: The amount is deducted directly from the employee’s gross pay, so there are no additional expenses for the company.
  • We’ll hold an initial meeting: Our project manager will visit you to discuss the details of the arrangement.
  • We come to you: Our experienced massage therapist will come directly to your workplace and provide treatments tailored to each employee’s needs.
  • On-site visits: Once the program is set up, your regular massage therapist will visit your workplace by appointment, and payment will be automatically deducted from each employee’s gross pay.

A corporate massage program as a gross salary arrangement is an agreement between an employer and an employee whereby a portion of the employee’s gross salary is used to pay for massage services. This means that employees can access professional massage at the workplace while also receiving a tax benefit, since the payment is made before taxes are deducted.

Company massage as a gross salary arrangement works by the employee entering into an agreement with the employer to redirect a portion of their gross salary toward massage services.

Health Group arranges for our experienced massage therapist to visit your workplace to provide personalized treatments for each employee. This makes it easy and convenient to incorporate wellness into the workday without requiring any extra time or resources from the employee.

No, there are no direct costs to the company for offering massage as part of a gross salary scheme. The cost is deducted from the employee’s gross salary, so the company does not incur any additional expenses. On the contrary, it can be an investment in employee well-being that may lead to reduced absenteeism and increased productivity.

For a gross-pay scheme to be valid, SKAT requires that the scheme be a permanent part of the employee’s employment contract for at least 12 months. This means that when your employees choose company massage through the gross-pay scheme, the agreement will run for one year.

Any unused credits on the massage card will therefore expire after 12 months, and there will be no possibility of receiving a refund for them. Changes to the plan can only be made during the next salary negotiation, which typically takes place after one year. For more details on the tax requirements for gross salary schemes, we recommend consulting the SKAT website.
